Media Themes: Modern Technology & Indigenous Humanity

 

“Films such as Jurassic Park, Blade Runner, The Terminator, 2001: A Space Odyssey, and Blue Thunder, to name a few, depict a world on the brink of allowing science to replace humanity and always with devastating effects”(Jordan).

When I apply this statement to reality I think of Western Science's use of advanced technology, historically and continuously achieved via cruelty to those who naturally possess, it in order to create a world more suitable for the masses, or perhaps just the select few who are too insecure with their genetic traits to rely on them for survival and prosperity. I go by a few different philosophies I've imposed on myself, one of which being : anything in moderation is OK and anything in excess is detrimental. When science, or its wielders rather, attempt to oppress human nature and/or the laws of nature with technology the imbalance creates a self imploding destruction of the endeavor at hand. “Mysticism becomes a particular target of scientific imperialism, for non rational elements are at the very heart of mystic experience”(Jordan). Natural humans and ancient civilizations, proven more advanced than our modern ones, always established a balance of humanity and nature, displaying a respect for nature and the resources available to life as humans and advance as civilizations. Modern western culture was founded on the destruction of indigenous cultures and the ritual practices they used to adhere to balance and harmony with their environment, namely African and Native American. So its no surprise that an underlying theme in media would be the necessity to be indigenous, or more so to have an indigenous host, while tolerating a society ruled by destroyers of natural humanity, rapists of natures resources and concealers of essential and historic truths that can enlighten and free the civilization it now rules systematically with marginalized logic. Now that western science and modernization has run rampant there is a global campaign to go green and be energy efficient, organic and sustainable, exactly the way indigenous humans lived before being conquered by younger races of man who raped the land instead of cultivate it and who scorned and conquered indigenous religions or spirituality instead of respecting and adopting them. “Since it first gained legitimization in the seventeenth century, 'modern science' has been involved in a continuing quest to assert itself as the primary sense making apparatus for Western culture; it has been largely successful in its endeavor to equate its explanations as fact.”(Jordan) Movies like Blade make suggestions about modernity’s necessary utilization of the original human energy/blood to function and evolve like a parasite to its host. This has inherent racial connotations that make the idea of vampirism and the idea of an African genned anti-hero being the source of human salvation and equally the source of technological conquering. The racial implications may not seem relative to science and modernity but the role of science in western cultures ignorant paradigms presents itself in several ways. “It is also important to look at how science has opposed itself to other sense making systems in our culture, attempting to dismiss their logic and affirm its own”(Jordan). An example lies in the formulation of racial identities by scientists, when Native African and American cultures both consist of myths warning or foreshadowing a pale visitor and displaying graphic implications of knowledge of human diversity. Also by the falsifying of the dominance of the African gene to create propaganda of savagery and sub-human underdevelopment of the African human and culture, to justify and encourage inhumane treatment toward them. Furthermore science has taken the evidence of African supremacy and distorted it by displaying its leaders and images with Caucasian features to discredit the Black African of all glory due. While the reality remains ancient Africans were building pyramids, refracting light off the moon, extracting healing and other various medicinal properties from common herbs and substances and using inherent technology that is still a mystery to modern scientist today which verifies Jordan's statement “Even when science has not been able to provide a conclusive answer to a phenomenon its methods inform the interrogative process.” Although the idea of Blade's ethnicity was conceived by the comic book author and not on the movie set, we get a chance to see on the big screen subconscious yet veritable implications about western elitist secret societies that seek to empower themselves and their heritage with parasitic methods that require blood or energy from the dominant human host, dominant humans being those of African/original descent. This is a direct parallel to the function of the African slave trade and Willie Lynch indoctrination of Africans in establishing the corporation of America where white supremacy flourishes overtly and covertly as it was designed to. Blade being a human and African yet having the recessive traits of a vampire alludes to the role of insisted integration of whites in black communities after abolishing slavery, and further substantiates the need to fight fire with fire instead of water, a Malcolm X approach to African prosperity in American contradictory to that of benevolent Martin Luther King who was curiously assassinated after he started becoming more militant in his convictions. Few recognized the internal success black communities were achieving with segregation after slavery, and this couldn’t be tolerated by a society designed to keep Africans as subordinate hosts. With the integration of races came a false sense of equality that pacified most blacks enough so as to allow white supremacist ideals to infect the psyche of individuals and the families of communities, re-establishing their need to self-oppress in order to fit in and achieve in a white ruled society. Watering down the dominant gene by encouraging interracial lust, and eliminating the African couple (female in particular) from media and reality, is theorized to be a method used by white supremacy to control the black masses that would otherwise obliterate the recessive gene through natural processes, and this theory presents itself as evidential in the majority of popular media particularly promoted in the past decade. The idea of a vampire includes many traits that can be associated with a Caucasian/albino/recessive genned human like pale skin, sensitivity to sunlight due to low or no melanin, history of feeding off the energy/resources of dominant species/humans to sustain their own, confinement to darkness as Caucasians originate from the Caucus mountains and were cave dwellers, like bats, and unlike African bush men who would dwell in the sunlight and be energized and nourished by it like most living things are, hence the theme of vampires being un-dead. Moving from the foundation of race to the bigger picture of population control as even Malcolm X stated “I believe there will ultimately be a clash between the oppressed and those doing the oppressing. I believe that there will be a clash between those who want freedom, justice and equality for everyone and those who want to continue the system of exploitation. I believe that there will be that kind of clash, but I don’t think it will be based on the colour of the skin.” The cyborg culture that surrounds us is ironically being combated with the very technological advancements it produced in that the spread of information and possible rebellion against modernity usually occurs via media outlets, mainly the internet, which is the form of modern technology most humans are attached to be it a computer, cellular device or vehicle with internet access. This satellite tracking that is standard in most new devices creates to the connectivity and wavelength established by collective techno consciousness and this can seem like a utopia to those subscribing to the idea that if everyone is alike no one can be a victim or violator. However it is apparent to scientists now, like it always was to indigenous humans, that a balance is needed for evolution to prosper without the consequence of revolution.
