PRAYER- an oration spoken to invoke, or commune with, a diety,  ancestor or spirit using word-sound power. (incantation, spell, Our Father, Grace before meals, affirmations)


DEVOTION- a physical sacrament of space or tools devoted to the Ancestral Spirit and thus made Sacred when/if accepted. Sacrements intended for ritualistic worship and devotion to the Ancestor(s). (altar, shrine, majick tools, Self, gemstones, clothes, artifacts)


OFFERING- is something you offer to the spirit but that you don't intend to use again afterwards. (burned incense, edibles, libations, candles, oils)


SACRIFICE- something valuable to you or to the Ancestral Spirit that YOU give up, give away, or give to that Ancestor, in order to earn receipt of something equal or greater in value. (virginity or sex, quitting a job habit or lifestyle, cutting ones hair off; BLOOD-of self, mankind or animals)

In Afrikan Spirituality the Hueman Community has a Civilized relationship with each other, the natural Earth and the Ethereal realm. Vodu is the more arcane bloodline trait within the Afrikan Spiritual Heritage which connects with the primary Forces of Nature that are Black Ancestors. Vodu is the original Black Majik thus requires esoteric initiations, activations and commitments.
When practicing Afrikan Spirituality, particularly with Vodu Rites, it is important to know the difference between a Prayer, Devotion, an Offering and a Sacrifice:
